Furniture

is the worst. I mean it's great when you want to, like, sit down or something, but when you want to be not in a house that you're paying money for every month, it's a real drag. Literally, cause, you know, you have to move it places. And when you don't drive? All I can say is thanks to Roland for driving and all the people who wanted my stockpile of Ikea-ness.

I have Firefox now, instead of Safari, instead of Internet Explorer. Now I can change colors. Like this!!!!!! So awesome. Everyone should get Firefox. Apparently you get fewer viruses. And the icon is neat. The world with a little fire-shaped fox curled around it.

There was a small earthquake yesterday morning when I was packing. I didn't feel it, but it made my shower door bang around and made Nana's fake pearls click against the door. I sometimes wish I were the kind of person who could see big things in the world (down deep beneath the surface) as having to do with the small things I am doing. They do, but only in that my reactions affect what I do next.

Right now, I'm on the UCI campus for the last time in the foreseeable future. I'm waiting for my students to come pick up their portfolios. Students never come as quickly as you want them to. (Ew!) My arms are getting sunburned. I see other poets across the patio. Goodbye poets.

Tonight is my last night in my own bed for the foreseeable future. Tomorrow is most definitely my last day at the house in Orange. I'm remembering Catcher in the Rye when Holden's trying to feel a goodbye for the school. Tomorrow I'll be in the car on the 5 North and I'll leave Buena Park and enter Los Angeles County, which is really home, but I'll be leaving a home at the same time.
Maybe Orange County is too big to feel a goodbye for. Goodbye UCI. Goodbye Irvine. Goodbye Orange. Goodbye pets. Goodbye friends. Goodbye furniture.
