Work

I got a job as a waitress at the Kettle restaurant. It's just off the I-10 if anyone's driving cross-country and feels like stopping for some pie or a country-fried steak. Everyone seems nice and happy about being there and tips seem good too. I only worked half an hour today, my first day, so I just got a glimpse. I know where the walk-in is and what belongs to the cooks and what belongs to the servers. The owner is Egyptian, I think, and he has a funny brown toupee. The waitresses have fluffy permed ponytails, bad teeth and purple mascara. Most of the customers are regulars. Busy season is starting in Tucson. All the old people are returning from the north so they can die tan.
